PREDICTED rain has prompted Wagga City Council to relocate events planned to kick off the city’s Australia Day celebrations tomorrow night.
Wagga has three packed days of activities to mark the occasion, but plans to hold tomorrow night’s concert and Australia Day Awards Ceremony in the Victory Memorial Gardens have been reconsidered.
The concert and awards will instead be held at the Civic Theatre.
The festivities will start from 7pm, featuring the Australian Army Band Kapooka, Murrumbidgee Magic and the Wagga City Rugby Male Choir.
Co-writers of the local smash film Backyard Ashes, Mark Grentell and Peter Cox, will be Wagga’s Australia Day Ambassadors for 2014 and will help present the Australia Day Awards.
Alternatively, Wagga City Council is also hosting a Picnic at the Oasis, offering free entry between 6pm and 7pm and fun activities until 9pm.
As much as 20-40mm of rain is expected to hit Wagga tomorrow, with a maximum temperature of 23 degrees forecast.
