Introducing… Wagga City Council

THE result is in and the new Wagga City Council has been decided.
Five councillors are returning for another term, in Kerry Pascoe, Rod Kendall, Garry Hiscock, Yvonne Braid and Alan Brown, who will be joined by new faces Andrew Negline, Julian McLaren, Greg Conkey, Dallas Tout, Paul Funnell and Kevin Poynter.
Of those, three were ungrouped, in Kendall, Conkey and Tout, while Kevin Poynter is from the Greens ticket.
Each candidate required a quota of 2603 votes to be elected, and it took until the 52nd preferences were counted for the final result to be known.
The new council was originally expected to be revealed on Friday, but the unusually high number of people choosing to vote below the line delayed the release of the result.
The next mayor will be elected by councillors at the first council meeting.
