PEOPLE who are receiving care or treatment for mental health concerns are invited to a forum at Narrandera in March.
The Mental Health Consumer Forum will be held on March 19, providing free information to improve access to services, address the stigma associated with mental health, and recognise more can be done to promote an understanding of mental health issues in the community.
The new Recovery Tool Kit will be launched on the day, along with a number of inspirational guest speakers.
Speakers will include the NSW Deputy Commissioner of Mental Health Faye Jackson, the Murrumbidgee Director of Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Robyn Manzie, and consumer advocates.
The theme of the day will be “Take back ownership of your recovery journey”, with Murrumbidgee Local Health District mental health consumer advocate Matt Sainty promising a productive day for attendees.
“The forum will help consumers engage more effectively with mental health services,” he said.
“They have nothing to lose and possibly everything to gain.”
The forum will be held on March 19 from 9.30am to 3pm at the Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club, with morning tea and lunch to be provided.
