POLICE have charged a teenager following a grass fire in Young last week.
Just after 10pm Wednesday 15 January, emergency services were called to a fire at Blackguard Gully Reserve.
NSW Fire & Rescue officers extinguished the fire a short time later, with minimal damage caused.
Witnesses have told police four young people were seen in the area prior to the fire, allegedly acting suspiciously.
Two teenagers were arrested at the scene and taken to Young Police Station. They were released a short time later.
Following further investigations, on Thursday 16 January, officers attached to the Cootamundra Local Area Command arrested a 16-year-old boy.
He was taken to Young Police Station and charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.
The teenager will appear at children’s court tomorrow.
